What's in the bag?

Rainbow Tote Bags

Every kid loves bags right? At least my kids do. All day long they dump, load, drag, and carry around all sorts of baskets, bags, purses, buckets, and backpacks. It's some good entertainment. I wanted to make some little tote bags for the kids to use when we go to MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). I found a pack of 4 small canvas tote bags at Michaels for $4.99. I then used a 50% off coupon, making it $2.50 for 4 bags!! I was definitely over excited. Then came the design.

I knew I wanted something simple, with each child's name on it. I decided to go with a rainbow of colors.  I first slid a piece of cardboard in each bag so the paint wouldn't bleed through the fabric to the back side. Then I used large foam alphabet stamps and acrylic paint to stamp on each name. I started with the middle letter in the center of the bag and worked my way out so the name would be centered. I have had these foam stamps for almost 8 years and were from a random Creating Keepsakes scrapbooking kit from QVC. Don't ask. So I apologize, I don't know the brand or where to buy them. I have seen similar stamps in educational supply stores. If you find alphabet stamps this size, BUY THEM. I use them for everything. Surely one of my most beloved and most used craft supplies.

So the kids use these bags to tote diapers, wipes, tissues, and a small snack to MOPS each week. I also use them when going to Church on holidays (when there is no child care). When we go out to eat or something where they kids need to be quiet, I put some of our busy bags into the totes to keep the kids quiet and entertained. I have tons of awesome busy bag ideas on my Pinterest board, please follow me! Go make some totes and let your little ones stuff them and carry them about. Enjoy!
