Project Life 2014 // weeks 41 - 45

week 41

left side - design A, right side is We R Memory Keepers

For this week, I decided to go big with the art work. I tend to do this when I don't have a lot of picture or words going into my spread. At the top, I told a little story about Jay running a race here in our town. The kids thought it was pretty cool to cheer Daddy on.

3x4 grid cards

Simple page. I printed these pictures here at home. I then cut white card stock into 4x4 squares and adhered each photo to a square.

For the middle I used a mixture of embellishments to fill the 2x2 squares. I wanted the see-through element, so I chose to leave the blank space open. The top pockets are sewn across the top to hold in the stars.

left side - design  , right side - design A

For this side I simply cut my photos down to 4x4 to fill the page. The middle 2x2 squares are still clear, and you can see through to the last page.

The quote on the bottom left photo was cut from a Studio Calico card and adhered to the picture.

All three sentiments shown here were cut from different Studio Calico PL cards and adhered onto new cards/photos. Often times, I don't care for the busyness of the cards and this is a great way for me to still use and enjoy the cards, and the sayings.

week 43

both sides - design A

You guys know my obsession with my type writer. But I still want my handwriting in my albums. I am trying to achieve a good mix. I love how this page turned out. I'm really into black and white. The Midnight Edition is still my favorite kit. I always find myself coming back to it.

More art work. It just makes me happy. I typed up my journalling onto card stock, cut it out, and adhered it to my photos/cards.

insert - 12x12

All handwriting for this side. A little trick I've talked about before: when you have a 4x6 opening and you want to fit in 2 3x4 cards/photos, simply attach both 3x4's to a 4x6 index card. They won't slide and you won't even see the back card. I did this on the top right.

For the insert, I wanted to add in this pumpkin Paige made a school. I slipped it into a 12x12 page protector, centered it the best I could, and then while holding it in place, I stitched around the entire edge. I love how it looks like it's floating.

For this side, I only used a 4x6 index card cut down to 4x4. I wanted to focus to be on the pictures of Paige in her costume. I like how the orange in her wings pops against all the black and white.

week 45

both sides - design A

Here's a look at the week with the insert I added.

insert - 12x12 altered

This week I didn't have many photo's from our week at home (me and the kids) because Jay was visiting his brother in Utah and then they drove back cross country. For this side, I cut a map from a 6x6 Studio Calico paper pad and adhered it to a 4x6 index card. I also used an index card cut down to 4x4 to record some quotes from the kids.

For the insert, I grabbed all the snapshots of Jay by the state signs from his iphone. I had asked him to do this before he left. He actually missed two states because they drove though during the nigh/dark so could't see the sign. When I printed the photos out I originally planned to cut the photos out and use them as I normally would, but I liked the way they looked all together on the template and decided to leave them as is. I slipped the page into a 12x12 protector. I stitched all around the edge. I then used some chipboard letters for a title and stitched them down as well. Lastly, I stitched along the top and then I cut it down, all around where I had sewn the plastic.

For the left side, I took up a 6x12 space by cutting up some school work Austin brought home. I then used the Studio Calico "road trip" card to document a little about Jay's cross country trip. On the "choose happy" card I wrote a bit about having the kids solo for a full week...I thought the card title was fitting.

In the middle, I used some 3x4 grid cards (the tab at the top is a stamp) to document some things the kids were loving this week.

That's it. I'll be back next week :)
